I spent this week at National Harbor MD.. I’ve never heard of it before, but my timeshare had a resort there, and it was less than 10 minutes to Washington DC where we were looking to visit. While I did spend a little time in Washington, a bigger part of the trip was spent exploring National Harbor. It is right on the Potamic River and contains everything an adult could want. Great restaurants, bars, night clubs, wine bars, live outdoor music, art galleries, and shopping. There are also water taxies that take you to Old Town Alexandria Va (Old Town is chiefly known for its historic town houses, art galleries, antique shops, and restaurants.), and Georgetown (which contains high-end shops, bars, restaurants and more). It’s like a trifecta!
National Harbor is still being developed. Phase one of the construction opened on April 1, 2008. In two years It will open an MGM casino and contain more housing. This is not only an exciting new neighbourhood in the Washington area, it has enough to be its own destination. I can’t wait to go back to visit. If you’re interested, I stayed at the Wyndham resort.
