Wisconsin Dells – Part 1

Rosie and I had some points to kill with our timeshare so we decided to come up to the Wisconsin Dells. Hrmm .. The Dells you say? Why Biff? I have some new travel rules. After a bit of experience, I’ve decided to travel North in the Summer and South in the Winter. It keeps the temperature at a nice 75-80 degrees. A few weeks ago we broke the rule and shot down to Williamsburg Va., and while we had a great time, it was WAY to HOT to enjoy some of the attractions. (I just did a historic weather check for July 2008 in Williamsburg and it was 93 degrees at the time; but it felt WAY hotter!). Anyway, the timeshare resort for the Wisconsin Dells looked awesome. It has three indoor water parks, an outdoor water park and in the winter they have snow slides. There’s actually a lot to do here, so we’ll be reporting back and tell you how this place actually is.

Anyway, we had the travel day from hell yesterday. Our flight was due out of Newark Airport at 1:55 in the afternoon. Due to two lanes shutting down at the George Washington Bridge and the ensuing traffic through the Bronx, we just missed our flight. After about an hour of deliberation with Continental Airlines (who by-the-way, were very helpful) we had to jump into a shuttle bus taking us BACK to LaGuardia Airport for a 9pm Flight. For those of you who aren’t familiar with me or where I live or where these places are, I’ll explain. I live in NYC, about 20 minutes from LaGuardia Airport. Newark Airport is in NJ. On the holiday weekend, I sat in traffic all the way to NJ to get to the airport, and then had to turn around and sit in traffic all the way back, It was about two hours in both directions. It sucked.

When we finally got to LaGuardia, and got to security, we found that we were the lucky winners of random checking. They pulled Rosie and I out of line so that they could go through all of our stuff. We were both frisked. After four hours in traffic, we were less then pleased by all of this. Luck for us we got the chance to reflect on it as we sat on the runway for more then an hour before take off.

We finally got here late last night. The room we have is outstanding. This might be one of the nicest resort rooms I’ve ever stayed in. I’ll post a few pictures tomorrow. As for now, I’m going to jump in the shower, grab breakfast and see what Wisconsin has to offer.
