Red Hat has moved CentOS from being an Enterprise Linux to feeding the Red Hat Enterprise Linux. What that means that instead of being upstream in terms of publication (making it the same binary as RHEL), it is not being used for testing software before that software is promoted to RHEL. In response, a community creating a new distribution has forked CentOS and is now running under the name Rocky Linux.
