Spacewalk is the opensource 5.5 version of the Red Hat Satellite Server (which is now at version 6.x). It is a way to manage OS software from a centralized repository to a distributed inventory. The spacewalk server connects to an upstream repository (CentOS 7 for instance), and copies the software to the local network. You can also create your own repositories. The servers in your infrastructure would register to appropriate software “channels” within the spacewalk infrastructure. The spacewalk server can then be used to manage automated OS or software upgrades for the enterprise.
