I don’t know why others aren’t outraged. Without a doubt, there is a trend torwards national and/or global monitoring. Governments around the world are archtecting and implementing systems to spy on its citizens. For what purpose? They claim
its security, but I have my doubts. The better answer is control. “It turns out that the most efficient delivery system for capitalism is actually a communist-style police state, fortressed with American “homeland security” technologies, pumped up with “war on terror” rhetoric.” - NAOMI KLEIN (China’s All-Seeing Eye) Please read the articles below and draw your own conculsions.

FISA Fight: Attack Of The Epic Failure It’s unbelievable that nearly three years of campaigning, legislating, debating, and shouting from the rooftops on this issue, one of the most important of the time, has had almost no effect. Worse yet, the new law that is about to be passed is the worst possible permutation imaginable–not only does it perform all the aforementioned perfidious tasks of justifying lawbreaking and expanding our surveillance state, it practically removes all oversight from the process and allows the surveillance system to be easily tailored to pick on purely domestic issues, ranging from illegal online gambling to P2P file sharing. Congress is attempting to strip US District Chief Judge Vaughn Walker of his power following his ruling against the government regarding immunity for telecoms in the NSA wiretapping case. The only judge that wants to make telecoms pay for not following domestic wiretap laws is being stripped of his powers by congress. It’s clear that the US Govt. wants to let the telecoms off the hook for this one. Never mind the law. (7/7/2008)
