Legends of Computer Science

Yeah, we geeks have our hero’s too. After a discussion with a co-worker about W. Richard Stevens (we couldn’t believe that another colleague had never heard of him) I decided to look around the web for others I consider to be !Comp Sci Legends!

Here is a short list of whome I give props to .. The list is sure to be controversial .. but the topic is “Legends”
Keven Mitnik, Mudge, L0pht and Legion of Doom are legendary and invoke discussion and sometimes awe. Mudge (of L0pht) is a bright guy who has contributed a LOT to the field of computer security, as has Dark Tangent (of Legion of Doom). Some of the others are complete academics and have made computing what it is today.

Weekend Update

Hey folks, Rosie and I spent the weekend with some friends from Queens. We kicked the weekend off with The Wiz at the Arnow Theater at City College (CUNY). The show was performed by the Harlem Repertory Theater. They were incredibly talented. Well worth seeing them perform. I’ll absolutly see them again.

On Saturday we headed out to Lake Ronkonkoma near our house, and spent the afternoon splashing around. In the evening, we saw “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat” performed at the Airport Playhouse. Another amazing show (we were thrilled .. 2 for 2 !!!). The shows and performances were both fantastic, though completely different.

On Sunday we jsut spent the day at the Tanger outlets located in Riverhead LI. I picked up a watch and a few other odds and ends.

End(ish) Summer Update

Ξ August 18th, 2009 | → 1 Comments | ∇ Blog |

I’ve spent a good amount of time this summer down by the Lake (Lake Ronkonkoma) and visiting family and friends. We’ve had a lot of people stay with us this summer, so there’s been lots of grilling and running around. We’re thinking of putting together a group trip to Montauk in October (just a weekend), so if you’re interested in going, send me an email. the plan is to head up on a Friday Night, and come back Sunday Afternoon; taking in the lighthouse, whale watching, seafood, icy cold beers, perhaps a walk on the beach? Not much else, just a lazy weekend for friends to get together and have a few beers and not have to worry about driving. We figured Oct would be perfect; all the summer people would be gone, rates would drop and the weather is great (sunny, warm but not to hot or to cold).
