Fedora 7 Released - work on the web site

Fedora 7 has been released today. I’m working on getting the downloads now, but the server is getting CRUSHED. I’m guessing everyone else wants to be the first on the block to install Fedora 7.

As you can see, there’s been a little more work done on the BiffSocko.com Site. It still has a long way to go, but I’m sure it’ll go quickly. I have yet to bring over the old posts on the other server, and I am kind of building this one from scratch again.

The Blog is still being done on WordPress, but I have greatly altered the scheme. The current theme is “Fog”, and I customized the look and feel as well as some of the features on the tool bars. Additionally, I added the code to suck down my Del.Icio.US links. For those not in the know, http://del.icio.us is a website to post your favorite links. You can also see other people’s links. It’s an interesting social experiment.

TechLinks has also been added here. It can be found under the Menu button at the top near the trees.

Brand New BiffSocko.com!!!

As you can see, there are a few things different about BiffSocko.com. Yes, it has a whole new look and feel, but that’s not all. I have moved the site to SDF. SDF has redundant Internet connections and runs on about 10 DEC Alphas. Basically, there is redundancy everywhere. Additionally, SDF will provide backup services and database administration. Good Times! The old BiffSocko.com server is currently down being serviced. It will continue being maintained as a development site, but my website will be located here at SDF.

The reason for the site move was hardware related.  This is probably about the third time that the site went down due to hardware.  I decided that I needed more redundancy and SDF was the perfect solution.  The site is a grid of 10 64 bit computers.  My days of downtime are forever over.

As you can tell, it’s not yet complete. The site is a work in progress.  I still have a lot of the old site that will be ported over sooner or later.  It’ll just take about a week to move it all.
